Wedding Bells & Poinsetta Chjristmas

OUR YEAR IN TARZANA HAS BEEN A BEAUTIFUL ONE.—BELLS WERE RINGING ON NOVEMBER 25th AS JIM AND I CELEBRATED OUR SILVER ANNIVERSARY. WE WERE MOST HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE OUR LEE AND LINDA’S ENGAGEMENT; WEDDING BELLS WILL BE RINGING SOON!’

Chris, 14 and nearly 5’10”, is in his last year of Jr. High. He has been accepted in a Science Honors class next year. He is doing fine and excels in sports. Last summer he also became a Certified Diver. His museum is growing; before long we have to build a “schaack” for him to display all of his great antique collection. His latest additions are a spinning wheel and wagon wheel from his Van Schaatk grand parents. His Anderson’ grandparents also added a pair of 50 year old gold, handmade cufflinks and a family Bible. His bottle collection is really getting fantastic. Many additions were added this summer from our September vacation, He took Highway 49 through the Gold Country, taking slides and movies of the Mother Lode and Comstock area.

Last year Joyce wrote of her upcoming trip to the Orient…a few details on it:. New Year’s Eve was spent in Manilla, after an 18 hour flight from San Francisco. It was difficult to stay awake for the midnight show! Hong Kong was truly the most beautiful city. The Taiwan Chinese Nationalists were most gracious hosts. Japan was exiting and the Emperor’s Gardens were absolutely gorgeous. Come see our Movies: Jim was thrilled with his Nikon camera and he hasn’t stopped taking slides. Jim has been working hard as usual. His group designed J.M. McDonald stores in Norfolk and Grand Island, Nebraska, and in Greeley, Colorado. Jim.and his great staff have been busily working on Emporium-Cepwell stores in northern California, a Quinn’s Nutrition Center in L.A. has been seen on the Planter’s Peanut television commercial. Jim has been very busy helping Mom decorate bulletin boards and making slide presentations for Sutter Jr, High School. Yep, after years of college, Joyce’s student teaching 8th grade History and taking 6 Units at C.S.U.N. She will complete her student teaching in summer school, then can teach English, History, Government and Reading. Joyce is an appointee of the L.A. Board of Education Bi-Centenial committee. Her big interest in the near future is taking pictures of historical sites in Washington, D.C., with Jim, of course. Joyce will be.President of the Tarzana Republican Women’s Club next year, exercising’ her responsibility as a good citizen.

Dana is in her third year at, the University of Redlands. She spent 4 months in Europe this year studying art, architecture, history and Europeni culture. She particularily enjoyed studying at L’Abri, a Christian Philosophy Community in. Switzerland. This semester she is taking her usual literature classes as well as acting and voice. She, along with 7 other students and a light and sound crew, will be traveling throughout California and Arizona with a Christian acting and singing troupe called “The Lamppost”. Last summer she had the pleasure of working for Jim and even learned a little about design and architecture!

Lee has moved his trailer to Telluride, Colorado, and commutes to LA., particularily to San Clemente to see Linda. They are both top surfers, tennis players and skiers. They are deciding where they want to settle down in the future. Skiing in Colorado will be beautiful this winter, and the family.may want to visit there too! We have much to be thankful for, here on Caritina Dr., health, love and family . . . what more can we be grateful for?

Please write and share your news of 1974 with us and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
